Abstract :
This paper presents an automatic topology change detection and mesh editing interface for time-varying meshes (TVMs). TVM is a sequence of 3D mesh models of real-world objects generated by multiple-view images. The topology change detection is achieved by extracting skeletons from TVMs and tracking the motion of the skeletons. An interactive mesh editing tool is also developed. As a result, the time consistency of the mesh topology can be maintained, enabling us to apply a lot of mesh processing algorithms to TVM. The validity of our system is confirmed by applying the edited TVM sequence to motion tracking. Experimental results demonstrate that the tracking accuracy is improved by 393 mm in the best case.
