An Italian facility to test distributed energy resources management for SmartGrids

In the international research context set-up by the European Technological Platform SmartGrids, the Italian electrical energy distribution utility (ENEL Distribuzione) and the Italian electrical energy production and research utility (ENEL Produzione) launched a large national research project. The program provides the development of a test facility for the integration and test of distributed energy resources management for smart grids with of innovative solutions. The paper describes the objectives of the project and the characteristics of the test facility with reference to schemes, components, support modelling tools, control and communication systems.
