Abstract :
The stabilization of free magnetic levitation in static fields is obtained by placing diamagnetic materials in the proximity of the floating magnet. Due to their intrinsic attributes, they act as a very small servo system, stabilizing the suspension. This paper evaluates the influence of the diamagnetic plate thickness on the vertical levitation, unlike the common method that considers an infinite thickness of the diamagnetic material. Thus, a more accurate prediction of the equilibrium point and its stability area has been obtained. The analytical evaluations are done regarding the mechanical restriction and stationary magnetic field equations, to obtain reliable analytical results.
