Abstract :
Knowledge is regarded an intensive assets of enterprises, in particular for those which are knowledge centric vis-à-vis healthcare. On the other hand quality of knowledge and best practices based on evidences are the measures of the effective operationalization of knowledge assets. Clinical practice guidelines (CPG) are being developed to provide evidence based best practices as knowledge source to healthcare. But, the effectiveness of CPG is subjected with the computerization of CPG as many studies shave shown that merely dissemination of CPG to healthcare practitioners in text-based document does not have potential effect towards better healthcare. Computerization of CPG provides a format that is understandable to humans and computers as well. It requires effective strategy for knowledge modeling, encoding and representation. In this paper we present our technique and strategy towards the computerization of CPG that consists of three phases (i) Knowledge modeling of CPG based on a formalism/model (ii) knowledge representation of CPG (iii) Knowledge Encoding strategy or framework. The outcomes of such computerization are knowledge component instances that differ from “If-Then-With” representation of CPG knowledge towards transformation of CPG knowledge base.
