Abstract :
This paper deals with intelligent behavior and intelligent character terminologies with respect to principles of assessing behavior. Based on these principles, we suggest to rethinking the two terminologies. A common view holds that “behavior” is associated with both embodied agents and disembodied agents. However, embodiment and disembodiment differ in their natures and take different forms of conducts. Therefore, we argue that a significant difference between the two should be lined up. Our suggestion for the transition from “behavior” into “character” when used for disembodied agents is based on the linguistic point of view. We argue, for the context of representing behaviors through computational means, i.e. the goal of Artificial Intelligence, the term “character” considered to be more appropriate and meaningful.
