Abstract :
The fluctuation induced electromotive force - 〈 j̃ × B̃ 〉 / ne, or the Hall dynamo, has been measured in the edge plasma of the Madison Symmetric Torus (MST) reversed-field pinch during global reconnection events, which are characterized by strong activity of the internally resonant resistive tearing modes. The Hall dynamo reaches its maximum in the vicinity of the reversal surface, where it drives the plasma current and balances the inductive electric field, but it is reduced away from the reversal surface.
