            Abstract : 
The population and employment distribution functions of Lowry model are improved by introducing the population adjustment factor and the employment adjustment factor, which can develop greatly the precise of the Lowry model. These two functions are calibrated by genetic algorithm, and then the types of land use that contribute greatly to these two adjustment factors are determined by the multi-stepwise regression analysis. According to the land use in the target year, the population adjustment factor as well as the employment adjustment factor can be calculated. Furthermore, the number of population and employment can be predicted by this improved Lowry model. The results predicted can be taken as the fundamental data for trip production forecast.
