Abstract :
An overview of basic ideas and results emerging from a research program known as Generalized Information Theory (GIT) is presented in the context of the area of intelligent systems. The aim of this research program is to study the concepts of uncertainty and uncertainty-based information in all their manifestations. In GIT, the primary concept is uncertainty and information is defined in terms of reduction of relevant uncertainty.
