Abstract :
The role of particles, metal vapour, gas and molten electrode surfaces are discussed in relation to post arc failure of vacuum circuit breakers. A new full PIC-Monte-Carlo simulation model is descried and the numerous physical mechanisms which are included in it are illustrated.
