Abstract :
Knowledge characteristics of appropriateness, interdependency and tacitness make knowledge encoding become time consuming and costly or even impossible in some cases. Combining transaction cost theory and knowledge based view of firm, this paper argued knowledge governance to harness relations between knowledge senders and recipients is vital to integrate members´ component knowledge. KG structure thus is classified into three approaches, namely, market-based, authority-based and consensus-based. The empirical study showed consensus-based KG could exert the biggest influence on knowledge integration efficiency, authority-based KG is the second, while market-based KG is not always effective.
