Abstract

AIS (Automatic Identification System), a new type of radio navaid system at sea, has more and more been used on a ship to identify a target and improve the navigation safety at sea. AIS network has also been constructed at the main harbor in many countries to enhance the traffic safety and the management at the harbor. In the paper, AIS system was briefly described. It was studied on AIS network frame. The applications at harbor traffic management were introduced. It was analyzed that AIS network brings to the benefits and the influences on the traffic safety.
