Abstract :
This paper describes the results of the OIIETM (Ontology-based Intelligent Interactive Electronic Technology Manual) project, as well as the method of constructing a knowledge-based intelligent system from the text of technology manual. Considering the complexity of domain knowledge and the ill-structured representation of technology manual, this paper suggests the architecture of OIITEM system, and it is composed of knowledge edition layer, knowledge management layer and application layer. And then, a method of building an ontology-based knowledge base, which is a fundament of OIIETM, is expatiated. In this process, reediting of technology manual text, formal representation and specification of axioms are three taches to build a formal ontology. Based on the knowledge base supported by ontology, application program can search the required information efficiently, and the semantics of ontology is of great benefit to promote the accuracy of information retrieve for TM users.
