  • Abstract
    Intelligent traffic technology aims at promoting traffic management and providing information services to public. The existing traffic information systems, developed with their traffic subsystem background and characterized by management-oriented applications, are incapable of meeting the dynamic requests of different customers for comprehensive and personal information services, and further go against the optimal utilization of resources. This paper analyzes the diverse traffic information needs of the public, the requirements for the on-demand integration of traffic information applications and various integration solutions, and the challenges that they pose. The analysis concludes that an approach combining the semantic grid and SOA technologies would be an appropriate solution. Therefore, a generic conceptual architecture for the integration using the Semantic SOA approach is proposed. The traffic system is redesigned as a service system, with the services being identified and managed with a UDDI server. Most services come from existing applications and are encapsulated within SOAP. The framework that implements the dynamic service flow composition is designed for customer-oriented services. A scenario is presented to show a potential application of this architecture, which analyzes the business model´s value of this SOA solution.
