Abstract
It is very important and valuable for police to finish effectively the task of alarm receipt and disposal. To ascertain the concrete location of alarm spot and find a nearest path from start point to alarm spot in time is the precondition of finishing the above-mentioned task, to which traditional management information system is helpless. GIS has an apparent advantage and absolute competence to the above task. Consequently, the GIS system for police based on MapObjects, which is a GIS software component, is developed. This system can display 110 alarm points, find the shortest path from start point to end point on the digital map, and choose the appropriate police power near the alarm point. Moreover, the preliminary schemes of and campaign plan chart used to fire control can be produced. This system has had a tentative running in Lhasa, Tibet, and the effect is good.
