Abstract :
A new method for extracting fingerprint minutiaes is proposed. After acquiring binary image, we thin the ridges and valleys respectively, and extract ridge bifurcations and valley bifurcations as the key minutiaes from the ridge thinned image and valley thinned image. The method is applied in fingerprint verification system about examinee, whose principle and basic structure, software and hardware design are discussed in detail.
