Abstract :
We consider pervasive computing environment where information is exchanged among nodes in a peer-to-peer fashion. We apply a hybrid approach and focus on the design of a bandwidth efficient overlay. Our approach, called together, is based on the observation that participating peers is more likely not to contribute available bandwidth for the delivery quality of others. To identify these peers, we introduce the concept of spare capacity set and accordingly propose a mesh auxiliary to a stable delivery tree, which exchange information among nodes in the set. Our overlay requires no change of the current information exchange mechanisms and can obtain bandwidth efficiency in pervasive computing environment. The effectiveness of together is evaluated through simulation.
