Abstract
When data sources are virtually integrated, there is no materialized global instance available. In this paper, we consider the problem of computing answers when queries are posed to virtual XML data integration systems, which are specified following the local-as-view approach. In the view definition, edge-path mapping and data-value binding are supported. Given an XPath query on the global system, we provide a method to compute query answers based on the underlying data sources by reversing rules in the view definition.
