Audio archive: From film to digital sound recording

As the TV broadcast media world is going digital, new solutions to conversion and preservation of audio and video film materials need to be specified, and at the same time change of signal format need to be taken into consideration. Audio archive materials were collected during some period of time, while technique was changing. Archives are assembled of variety formats. Postproduction of archive materials now days needs to combine different, old and new, techniques what makes postproduction process very complex and challenging This paper is focused on possibilities of archiving audio signal from film and other sources. Emphasis will be put on the challenge of conciliating formats.
