Abstract
Based on the idea of mechanical-electrochemical polishing, a new wire-combined tool had been developed and an investigation has been made into the polishing feasibility of the surface of hard materials when a new mechanical-electrochemistry method is adopted. This tool is made up with the inner electrode and the external helical abrasives. The new structure of this wire-combined tool produces screwy effects of electrochemistry and grind through the movement of turning. This tool has been used to polish some kinds of hard materials. After machining, the surface quality and mechanical performance of the specimens are studied. The experimental results show that this mechanical-electrochemistry method can improve the surface roughness and decrease surface cracks greatly[1,2]. In additional, there are no wastage of the tool that can be founded during the process. The experiment reveals that it is a feasible and effective polish method for improving the surface integrity of hard materials.
