Abstract :
The flame image processing and analysis system based on a matrix colour CCD (Charge-Coupled Devices) and two-colour radiation thermometry has been developed within the heat treatment industry. However, the method using a matrix CCD is intricate and low detection accuracy. In this paper, a novel instrumentation system for flame temperature measurement is presented. The system operates on a linear CCD, combining two-colour principle to obtain multi-group temperature estimations at carefully selected wavelength pairs. Relationships between the temperatures and wavelength pairs are also discussed. For a good accuracy, a multi-sensor weighted fusion algorithm is applied. Compared with the traditional arithmetic mean method, the fusion algorithm enables relative optimal estimation without any prior knowledge for the surveying data. The experiments are conducted on a 2.5KW model furnace. Results obtained from analysis demonstrate the system enables the temperature measurement with a good reliability and lower cost than other commercially available technologies.
