Abstract :
Municipal solid waste (MSW) is increasing rapidly with economic development in recent years in China, and has become a serious environmental problem. Incineration plays an important role in disposal and utilization of MSW. The characteristic of Chinese MSW is low LCV (low caloric value) and high moisture content. Operation problems of typical CFB incinerator were investigated. In order to keep stable incineration and necessary combustion temperature, a number of auxiliary fuels have to be used. The mass ratio of MSW to coal is about 4:1 at present. However, this situation is incompatible with the new regulation published by NDRC in 2006, in which the heat value ratio of MSW to coal is demand to be no less than 4:1. A novel MSW incineration technology integrated with biochemical method is proposed. Leach ate and low heat value food waste in MSW are treated with anaerobic digestion method. The anaerobic digestion residue is dried and mixed with high LCV combustible component in MSW. The heat value of burning waste is higher than original MSW in conventional incineration technology. Design parameters for a MSW incinerator applied this novel technology were analyzed. The coal saving effect is satisfied. Incinerator efficiency is stabilized and the flexibility of incinerator is improved. This novel technology can improve the total energy utilization efficiency of MSW power plant.
