            Abstract :
Many motor drive applications demand more than one connected variable speed drive, for example to provide the system redundancy. A conventional multi-drive system is realized by single rectifier, common DC-link circuit and certain number of inverters sharing the same DC-link circuit. Applications of this system can be limited due to a bulky DC-link circuit. This paper presents a multi-drive system based on two-stage matrix converter for driving two motors on the same shaft. The proposed power converter topology eliminates the requirement for DC-link components, reducing the weight and volume of the system.
