Abstract :
A new low data rate C-band transceiver testbed with substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) filter for ultra-wideband (UWB) communications is presented. Data is modulated with on-off-keying (OOK) and transmitted by baseband UWB pulse trains upconverted to a carrier frequency. For low cost applications and low-complexity devices, the suboptimal receiver scheme of energy detection was chosen and realized with a logarithmic detector. The transceiver testbed is controlled by digital signal controllers (DSC) and is fabricated using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) surface mount devices (SMD), substrate integrated waveguides and a planar printed circuit board (PCB) antenna structure offering flexibility and lower costs for non-mass-market products and applications.
