Abstract :
In this paper, a novel 2-degree-of-freedom hybrid magnetic bearing is presented which the static bias magnetic flux is produced by polarized permanent magnet ring and control magnetic flux is produced by currents in control windings. The mathematical models are deduced based on the introduction of working mechanism of hybrid magnetic bearing (HMB). A practical prototype bearingpsilas parameters are used in simulation and the magnetic path is analyzed by finite element analysis software ANSYS 8.1. Suspension principle is validated. The relationships between radial force and control winding current are calculated. Optimum working range of magnetic bearings is concluded. The control system is designed and simulated with Simulink toolbox. The simulation results have shown that the shaft of the magnetic bearings designed in this paper can be suspended stably and has good control performance.
