Abstract
The load performance of a new type of hybrid excitation claw-pole alternator is calculated using the combined magnetic vector potential - magnetic scalar potential (mvp-msp) method in this paper. The traditional electrical circuit method and the magnetic circuit method are not appropriate for solving the magnetic field of claw-pole alternators. The MVP-MSP method requires less computation time, and can retain high computational accuracy. The main results of this paper are helpful to the optimal design of hybrid excitation alternator.
