Abstract :
For water cooling induction motor used for HEV, transient and steady thermal analysis are useful to predict the temperature distribution, propose requirement on the water cooling system and enable designers to optimize the motor design. This paper adopts the approach of combining simulation and experiment to identify the time-dependent boundary conditions and heat sources in Ansys, proposes a 3D model for the calculation of transient and steady thermal analysis. A 30 kW prototype motor has been used to perform the test of temperature rise under rated load. The thermal analysis results are compared with experiment results to give valuable conclusions..
