Title :
Outlook of roles and necessities of power electronics for VF-power system of future large aircraft
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
On-board power systems of large aircraft are moving from constant frequency (CF) AC to variable frequency (VF) AC systems or a hybrid system configuration. Replacing CF AC systems by VF AC systems will reduce system weight, volume, costs; and improve overall system efficiency. A future VF-power system architecture is presented. Optimal system configuration is developed based on the cost index minimization of the total KVA throughput times the number of stages of conversions. New requirements and challenges for the design of new equipments are also discussed.
