  • Abstract
    A novel bi-directional buck-boost converter used for battery charging and discharging cooperated with a three-level half bridge inverter in a UPS is proposed. The operation of charging and discharging can be controlled respectively, and the capacitor voltage balance can be achieved based on the peak current control. The operating principle and parameter design of the converter are analyzed in detail. Capacitor voltage balance affected by inductors coupling coefficient is also researched. Experimental results are presented to verify the proposed analysis.
