Abstract :
Line start permanent magnet motors (LSPMMs), which consist of a squirrel-cage rotor that contains a few permanent magnets, can be considered as being more efficient than high-efficiency induction motors. However, methods to improve the starting and running characteristics of LSPMMs have not been clarified in detail. In this paper, we propose the basic concepts of an analytical calculation method of the LSPMM, and present some test results for the determination of constant.
