Abstract
We present load characteristics of three-phase 12/8 switched reluctance motor (SRM) for the electric vehicle (EV), driving noise, and accelerating performance of the vehicle. Driving force characteristics of EV using SRM are calculated from the torque vs. speed characteristic. The driving force reaching the wheels is used to overcome the traveling resistance, and works as the propulsion power. Driving noise and accelerating performances are also measured. The noise from SRM is rather large because the structure of SRM and the control method for reducing the noise are not considered. However, these results show the sufficient drive force, and confirm that SRM used in this study is suitable for the drive-train of this vehicle.
