Abstract :
By introducing the structure and principle of a novel arc suppression coil based on transformer with load controllable, the design of its control system is presented in this paper. The fundamental principle of the proposed arc suppression coil is that the equivalent reactance of transformerpsilas primary winding can be regulated by controlling the variable load of transformerpsilas secondary winding, which is realized via a voltage source PWM inverter (PWM-VSI). The full digital control system builds on DSP and CPLD microchips, some notable aspects in controller design, such as reactance automatic tuning, inverter control and protection, EMC design, etc, will be clarified in detail in the paper. Experimental results verify the feasibility of the novel arc suppression coil as well as the practicability of the whole control system.
