Abstract :
A differential driving burst-mode transmitter suitable for 10-Gbit/s-class PON systems is proposed and demonstrated. Two types of fast response transmitters, with dc- or ac-coupling, were developed, and their features and characteristics are described. A large loss budget and a wide dynamic range were realized in a burst-mode transmission experiment using the ac-coupled burst-mode transmitter.
