Abstract
As NASA Earth scientists strive to better understand the global changes of the Earth system, investments in advanced remote sensing technologies have become increasingly important. This paper focuses on accomplishments from recent Earth science technology development activities that are leading to new instrument system and subsystem level suborbital and space-based measurement techniques. Instrument systems described herein will help scientist better understanding how changes in ice topography and thickness, global tropospheric winds, and atmospheric aerosols and trace gases are impacting the Earth system. The NASA Earth Science Technology Office, Instrument Incubator Program, manages this portfolio of technology investments as well as numerous other technology developments for the NASA Science Mission Directorate.
