  • Abstract
In this paper, based on 16-day 250 m MODIS product suits, using residual trend method, the effects of Restoring Grazing to Grassland Project in Maqu grassland was evaluated. Firstly, some regression models between NDVI in different stage and synchronous meteorological data were constructed. Then using above models we can predict NDVI value without the project and analyze the residual trend of actual NDVI and simulative NDVI from 2000 to 2006. Finally, the effect of restoring grazing to grassland on the grasslands was evaluated. The result showed that the project was favorable to grassland recovery and beneficial for grass growth, especially in the earlier and latter growth seasons. In all the projects, prohibition-grazing measure was the most effective. In addition, there lies regional effect difference, which it is most distinct in Manrima village and contrary in Oula village. Moreover, the effect of every enclosure was evaluated. In most enclosures, grassland gradually recovered. Among these enclosures, the effect of 16th enclosure was most obvious. However in several enclosure, grassland weakly degraded, such as the 21st enclosure, which can be concluded that there were some absurd grazing behaviors and the project was not well executed in those areas.
