Abstract :
The terrian on Taiwan is extremely complex and special due to its steepness as well as almost north-south orientation. The fact that Taiwan is surrounded by oceans and located in the path of many typhoons indeed cause a strong interaction between typhoon´s rainfall, strong wind, structure, as well as circulation and Taiwan´s Central Mountain range. The goal of this study is to induce climatological percentage of the rainfall amount for some different tracks of typhoons by using Taiwan´s Central Weather Bureau rain gauge data. And then used a well-known Tropical Rainfall Potential (TRaP) technique to estimate the accumulated rainfall associated with typhoons over the landmass of Taiwan.
