Abstract
In this paper, a double scroll chaotic attractor circuit, which is employed as a true random bit generator, is presented for use as a key source in cryptographic applications. The double scroll attractor is modelled on Chua´s circuit for nonlinear operation leading to chaotic behaviour. This circuit was modified to obtain true random bit generator performance using a simple temperature dependent control resistor in the oscillator circuit and optimal voltage threshold settings. The randomness attributes of the generator were confirmed via PSpice simulation, by most of the well known NIST tests for statistical validation.
