  • Abstract
This work describes the degree to which civil safety standards map to the requirements of Defence Standard 00-56 issue 4. Four key principles are identified in 00-56 issue 4. These principles are hazard and risk management; level of evidence should be commensurate with risk and complexity of the system; focused and reasoned and traceable arguments; and safety management. The standards assessed against these principles in this work are D0178B/ARP4754/ARP4761 and IEC61508.
