Abstract
▪The impact assessment for Smart Meters derives benefit from: ▪Lower emissions ▪Reduced peak demands ▪More efficient meter reading and billing ▪Lower energy bills ▪Intelligent wiring of residential homes coupled to smart metering and smart appliances could create an additional layer of benefits for suppliers and system operation that improve the economic prospects for Smart Meters ▪Suppliers could manage domestic demand to: ▪Manage risk in their energy purchases ▪Proactively manage peak demand ▪Provide a source of reserve to the system operator ▪Provide a source of frequency response for system operation
