  • Abstract
    Pervasive Computing, which is a hotspot of current computer applied research, has great potential for many applications, e.g. in education, health care, seamless traveler service, and transportation. Based on the analysis of existing public transportation systems which have already applied Radio Frequency Identification and bus auto-announce technology, this paper proposes a novel bus metered fare system. The system implements metered fare payments in a pervasive computing environment inside the bus, thus overcoming inefficiencies of existing bus payment systems. The architecture and model of the system are also presented in this paper. Finally, the paper gives an evaluation of the system.
