Abstract :
Broadband wireless access (BWA) technology based on OFDMA is fast developing, yet the applications are limited by the radio spectrum resource. Due to the high speed mobility, the conventional handover algorithm can not promise both handover successful rate and the delay time in the mobile environment. In this paper, we propose a new adaptive handover algorithm based on the different moving speed of MS in the broadband wireless access networks. This scheme can adjust the handover delay time automatically to reduce the handover operation time which guarantees the successful rate in handover connections. At the same time, the simulation results indicate that the algorithm is quite effective in decreasing the drop probability during the handover processing.
