Abstract
To effectively control the energy consumption and increase the throughput in wireless sensor network (WSN), a priority based network coding scheme is proposed in this paper. Data are divided into several independent priority groups and are coded with different network coding mechanisms. To rapidly recover the most important and emergent data, a simple but efficient tornado code-based network coding scheme is introduced. Furthermore, the optimal "aggressiveness" and "degree" of the network coding are discussed in details. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed scheme is demonstrated in simulations.
