Abstract
In wireless networks, fadings and interferences are two major obstacles for high speed and reliable transmission. In this paper, we consider using joint adaptive modulation and power control to deal with the inherent drawbacks of wireless cognitive radio networks. The transmit side of each link adaptively adjusts its modulation type and power level according to target bit error rate (BER) and signal-to- interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) requirement, respectively, under the assumption that channel state information (CSI) is constant during the transmission and is available to the transmitter. We demonstrate by simulation that the performance of the proposed algorithm is satisfactory.
