Wireless digital home networking based on cognitive radio

The limited spectrum resource, the inefficient spectrum utilization and the in-band interference from domestic appliances necessitate a new communication paradigm in wireless digital home networks (WDHNs). In this paper, we propose the network and protocol architectures of wireless digital home networks based on cognitive radio technology, which exploits licensed or unlicensed spectrum and enables dynamic spectrum access in wireless networks. The functionalities and components of the proposed protocol architecture are also presented in details.
