Author_Institution :

Abstract :
Energy crises in the 1970s made energy planning one of the priority areas of national economic planning in the oil importing developing countries (OIDCs). Methodologies applied in national energy demand forecasting ranged from simple constant energy-GNP elasticity models to sophisticated bottoms-up models. Energy supply forecasting methodologies were also diverse. More detailed energy study and training is necessary to strengthen energy planning activities in the OIDCs.
