Abstract
A low-order probabilistic model describing large signal behavior of aggregate air conditioner (A/C) loads is presented. The model demonstrates that severe load oscillations can occur for large signal disturbances (outages). The sensitivity of the large signal behavior to the driving stochastic processes (e.g., outdoor temperature) is demonstrated. The approximations involved in the model allow easy computation of the model parameters.
