Abstract
A Bayesian correlation algorithm is described for detection and localization of acoustic targets using a set of meaurements from a pattern of passive sonobuoys. The algorithm produces two-dimensional maps of the probable location of targets within the search area for every frequency band detected. An example of target localization using simulated data is included. The maps for all the frequency bands can be successfully employed to synthesize complex target signatures for multiple targets using the geographical information produced by the correlation algorithm.
