Abstract :
The paper surveys various generalizations of the classical resultant matrix to give a test for the relative primeness of two polynomial matrices. Additionally minimal bases for rational vector spaces as described by Forney are considered via a homogeneous two variable approach and it is shown that the generalised resultant is actually a test for a minimal basis.
