Abstract :
A single loop adaptive controller algorithm has been successfully applied to the control of an eight plate distillation column separating a mixture of methanol and water. Computer control of loops controlling overhead and bottom composition has been implemented using a NOVA 3/12 minicomputer with 32k RAM and a disk operating system. The control algorithm is based on pole-zero placement.
