Abstract
An application of a model reference adaptive control algorithm to the combustion control of a 300 Mw power unit boiler is presented The main process variable to control under this scheme is the main steam pressure, whereas the rest of the control systems use PID algorithm. The purpose to be achieved with this implementation is to reduce the sensitivity of steam pressure during load variations. A comparison is made between the plant behavior with classical PID combustion control and the adaptive algorithm. The results lead to say that the latter scheme produces a smoother response.
