Abstract
The paper deals with measurement and control problems for extrusion processes. A model of a screw extrusion process is presented and the alternative control algorithms are discussed. Unique features of the model, such as heavy interaction (couplings), nonlinearities, and delays are presented in block diagram. The advantages of digital controls over the conventional analog controls are discussed. Finally, feedforward, decoupling control methods are proposed by using distributed digital controls which require no computer language.
